The Westin Georgetown

2350 N STREET NW, WASHINGTON, DC

The Westin Georgetown is a hotel in Washington, DC.  The building is constructed with a reinforced concrete frame and was built in 1984.  The façade of the building is mostly brick with precast at the lower floors.

TCE was contacted due to deterioration of the brick masonry and need for façade maintenance.  During the façade survey, TCE observed cracked brick, failed façade sealants, deteriorated concrete at the balcony slabs, corrosion of handrails and exposed steel, and leakage at the courtyard plaza level windows/doors.  TCE developed a repair program to address the causes of façade deterioration, restore the original structural integrity of the balcony slabs, paint all exposed steel, apply protection systems for the balcony slabs, and replacement of the courtyard plaza windows/doors.  The hotel remained in operation during the repairs.
